Peer-2-Pizza

1st Place in the Games, Mods and Addons category for Mod DB's #MAKEITSUPERHOT competition. A weird SUPERHOT-inspired puzzle game about delivering pizza digitally. Worked independently for just a month for the competition entry. Currently working on a full and polished version - when I can!

#MAKEITSUPERHOT Competition

In early 2017, Mod DB and SUPERHOT Team ran a competition for people to create games, mods and art inspired by SUPERHOT, with the awesome time moves when you move mechanic. The competition rules were pretty straightforward, with entries simply required to make a game or mod inspired by SUPERHOT.

Alongside prototyping ideas in Unreal Engine 4, my main design goals was to avoid having generic shooting and enemies as part of the main game. Instead, I was more leaning towards a more puzzle-oriented game which would allow for fun and interactive problem solving to occur alongside the time moves when you move mechanic. This eventually emerged into a game where the main objective was to get one object to a goal whilst overcoming a series of obstacles. And then as for the pizza delivery... yeah, I have no clue!

After just over a month of development on my own and despite not gaining much traction, I was very fortunate to place 1st for the competition's Game, Mods and Addons category! The announcement was picked up online by PC GamerRock, Paper, Shotgun and PCGamesN, alongside some nice words from my university too!

The competition version (a demo / alpha version) can be acquired from the game's Mod DB page: click here

Insomnia X Resonate (2017)

In 2017, I had the opportunity to exhibit the game to attendees of the Insomnia X Resonate convention held in Glasgow over three days. This provided me with the chance to have a range of people test out the game to see what they liked and didn't like.

Whilst there was a positive response to the game, each day revealed new problems with the game through the way in which the attendees interacted with the game. Fortunately, changes were introduced after each day which progressively led to more people understanding how to play the game more efficiently.

For the event too, I quickly added some functionality to track the main game events which I collated into the stat images below:
